My Story
**Professional Background:**
Prior to my journey as an educator, I completed my diploma in Architectural Technology and worked at architectural firms in Alberta. My love for Math, Science, and the Arts drove me to pursue both career paths, but it was my passion for growth and development that led me to a career in teaching.
**Tutoring & Enrichment Services:**
Along with my post-secondary education, I have a strong background in working directly with students across pre-K to Grade 12. I currently work as a classroom supervisor in local school districts, gaining hands-on experience both as an educational assistant and as a substitute teacher. In addition to my work at Apex Achievers Math Academy, I am a teaching assistant at Kumon, where I develop techniques and strategies to teach both reading and math. I have also tutored independently, through which I’ve learned valuable, practical teaching skills.
**Teaching Philosophy:**
I have always loved learning and teaching, especially when it comes to math. While math is fun for me, I understand that students come in with a diverse range of abilities and anxieties shaped by past experiences. Because of this, I focus on creating a supportive space where students feel safe making mistakes, taking their time, and learning through trial and error. I firmly believe that learning from mistakes builds true confidence and resilience in a child's learning journey, and that the problem-solving process is far more important than just getting the right answer. Using experiential learning, my goal is to help your child cultivate their skills, build lasting confidence, and realize their full potential.
I look forward to helping your child fulfill their math potential soon!
